cs_skool is based off my highscool - surprise.

In 2004 I was a sophmore in high school, CS 1.6 was all the rage back then and my friends thought it would be cool to shoot eachother up in a simulation of our highschool's hallways.

It's pretty bad. It was my first ever map. I opened Hammer, made a hallway, checked TWHL for something, added a ladder, checked TWHL for something, so on and so on... The result was cs_skool - literally the first file saved from hammer was cs_skool.rmf. I remember at one point i had a "bad surface extents" error that baffled me for days because I tried to make the bottom of the stairs look moldy with the nasty green-brown water texture. Anyway, the first released version of the map probably evolved over the course of two weeks. I tried to update it based on the member comments in the vault but I eventually gave up because I was honestly too lazy to try to fix the performance issues.

It's probably for the best that it's only a vague-at-best representation of the school for -you know - reasons...

Anyway, the scale is wrong, the rope should be a ladder but isnt (RIP roof jumpers). There's a bunch of half-assed details in here that could have been good but really aren't good at all. (If you're wondering what the red glowey thing in the courtyard is, It's a basketball hoop backboard - I remember being completely confused as to why it was glowing and I never made the rim. I obviously didn't know "lights.rad" was a thing back then)

No updates have been made since 2004 and I have no plans to touch this map ever again.

This map was compiled on 1/3/18 just so I can hear Jessie's comments during the "tour-de-TWHL-vault". Rest in peace CS_skool, you won't be missed.

Warmest regards,
