Map description

The original gmdm1 was a fast-paced, innovative map for Half-Life DM. I thought it would work well in Quake, so I have converted it to DMC.

This is not my main mapping project, and I have not spent very much time on it. It may not be as polished as the original (which you can download here ). Still, please let me know your opinion of it, especially areas where I could improve.

Installation

Installing dmc_gmdm1 has created the following files on your system:

Playing tips

The pool of water that contains the lightning gun can be drained at the touch of a button, leaving players helpless at the bottom.
Another button activates a magnetic laser that will attract and kill nearby players.
To get the quad-damage more quickly, you can rocket-jump to it and skip out the platforms in the lava. To rocket-jump, fire a rocket at the floor at the same time as jumping.
Each of the main rooms has a hole in the ceiling which leads to the invulnerability. There are two ways to get up there: rocket-jumping with the quad-damage, or rocket-jumping off a grenade. The first is easier, but causes you twice as much damage.

To see a demo of the harder jump, go to the console in DMC and type: "playdemo gmdm1_jump".

Credits

I built all of the map (using Worldcraft with Zoner's compile tools) from scratch.

Thank you to those people who helped with the original gmdm1.

My real name is Michael Hopley. Please email me with any comments, good or bad.
