dm_lars
=======
Introduction:

Hi!

This map is meant to portray the fictional "Lars Homestead" from Star Wars.
I took great pains to stay true to as many details as possible, by using
lo-res movie stills, and tourist's pictures from the original shooting
 locations in Tunisia.

Acknowledgements:

Would like to thank everyone at TWHL.co.za for your help, support, and fun!

Special Thanks to NinjaGrinch for turning me on to HLFix--it IS awsome.

Also special thanks to Captain P and Kasperg for all your old forum posts
that really helped me get through this map!

Instructions:

Copy/Paste "Valve" folder to the same location as your own--don't worry, it
will not overwrite your files, just add the new ones...

Click "Create Server" from the Half-Life menu, select dm_lars...

Notes:

This map has only been tested using steam. No guarantees for WON, but
 should be ok.

"Vaporator" model and "Cheesy SKY" done by me.

The craters in the map were "open" in early versions of the map, but it soon
became apparent that r_speeds were going to be a real problem to keep them
 that way.

Closing them off is awkward, but necessary to have a playable map--unless
your want wpolys in the 2200 range! A couple interesting side effects of
this--it creates 2 distinct combat areas and allowed me to add an
interesting/fun, as well unintended element to the map--you'll see!

Another awkward part of the map is the presence of a few "Trancelucadors".
You can walk straight through the doors--the awkward, unrealistic part---,
but the trancelucent texture blocks VIS. This was necessary to make the
r_speeds playable without modifying the layout in ways I wasn't willing to.

Textures stretched huge--12.00 x 12.00--in the subterranean interior areas
makes for bad lighing effects and looks just plain bad. These and the rest
of the textures will be all custom in the next version.

Epolys are super high in the upper area, and will be addressed in the next
 version with lower-poly models.

I wanted to do something original with weapon equipping for this map.
You'll be the judge if it's any good...

Final word:

That's all I can think of right now. I'm tired and I have a headache, but
am immensely happy the beta release for dm_lars is finally finished!

HAPPY MAPPING!
